Unique Selling Proposition – How to Make Your Business Stand Out

With so much competition around you, it can be overwhelming and a daunting process to figure out how your business stands out. Have you considered what is unique about your product or service?

Answer these 5 questions to discover your Unique Selling Proposition (USP).

  1. What is it about my business that makes people choose my product or service and not the next result on Google?
  2. What does my business do really well that no one else can do?
  3. Who am I trying to sell to and what are their needs?
  4. How do I meet those needs?
  5. How can I say this in a way that is clear and easy to understand?

After researching the product or service, your company, and your competition, the customer needs to feel compelled to purchase from you, because they cannot get the same opportunity anywhere else. They must believe that they have been intelligent enough to discover this one of a kind great deal. You have perfectly met their needs.
Of course, you can’t be all things to all people. So focus on your target market (the group you are trying to sell to) and tailor your product or service to meet their needs.

When what you offer meets the needs of your target market in a unique way, you have found your Unique Selling Proposition.

To communicate your USP with your target market, make sure your USP is obvious throughout your website. Clearly explain the benefits of your product or service and what makes your company different. Use SEO keywords relating to your USP. To encourage customers to purchase now, give a clear incentive (Call to Action). When you leverage your USP with your target market, you will increase your sales and gain a loyal base of long term customers.
